SUMMARY:PESA WA: 2023 Perth Basin Pitch - Cutting Edge Technologies Matched to Industry Need
DESCRIPTION:Perth Basin Pitch – Cutting Edge Technologies Matched to Industry Need\nEvent details:\nThe Perth Basin Pitch\, held by PESA WA in conjunction with Ascendience Geoscience\, is a one-day interactive workshop to match cutting edge technologies with industry need. With a pipeline of major resource projects and considerable yet to find exploration potential this highly prospective region is attracting considerable attention. \nEffective solutions to sub-surface technical challenges facing successful field development and production\, as well as future exploration success\, will ensure cost-effective and timely project delivery\, but choosing the best technologies to deploy is critical to this goal. \nVendors from the service industry\, Academia and R&D organisations are invited to pitch technology solutions addressing a range of sub-surface issues that represent potential barriers to project success across themes of Geology\, Geophysics\, Petrophysics and Reservoir Engineering. Twenty short “pitch” style presentations will be delivered\, addressing a range of sub-surface uncertainties.  An interactive group discussion session will be used to rank the proposed solutions against perceived need and value creation potential using a consistent format. \nThe closing hour will comprise an overview session to provide decision makers within E&P companies an executive summary of the proposed technology solutions. \nAttendance by industry representatives from E&P companies is complimentary by registration.  \nTechnology vendors are invited to submit a summary outlining their solution-based approach using a provided template. Pitch presentations will be strictly limited to 10 minutes\, including time for questions. Those selected to pitch charged a minimal $550 fee (inclusive of GST) to cover workshop expenses. \nApplications to pitch close Friday 18th August 2023. \nThe organising committee will review and select successful submissions\, with notification of successful pitchers and confirmation of the event program to be finalised by August 21st\, 2023. \n  \nWorkshop Details \nWhere: Dexus Place\, Level 16\, 240 St Georges Terrace\, Perth. \nDate: Wednesday 13 September\, 2023. \nTime: 8:30am-5:30pm. \nTicket Prices: \nPitcher: $550.00 (inclusive of GST). \nPESA Member Attendee: Free with registration. \nPESA Non-Member Attendee: Free with registration. \nMorning tea\, afternoon tea and lunch are provided. \n  \nGuidelines for Pitchers \nA maximum of 20 pitches will be accepted.  Pitches will be selected by the Event Convenors\, whose decisions are final. \nOne pitch per company will be accepted if over-subscribed (i.e. >20 pitch proposals received).  Additional pitches may be possible if maximum numbers (20) are not reached.  These will be allocated solely at the discretion of the Event Convenors. \nPitch presentations will be strictly limited to 10 minutes\, with additional time for group discussion. \nCost: $550 (inclusive of GST) per pitch (to cover workshop expenses) \nApplications to pitch close Friday 18th August 2023. \nThe organising committee will review and select successful submissions\, with notification of successful pitchers and confirmation of the event program to be finalised by August 21st\, 2023.  Invoices for payment will only be sent through to successful pitchers. \n  \nTo register\, email your pitch idea to webinars@pesa.com.au using the following template: \nhttps://pesa.com.au/wp-content/uploads/2023/07/Perth-Basin-Pitch-Describe-the-Pitch-Template.pptx \n  \nInformation for Attendees \nThe Perth Basin Pitch will introduce cutting edge technology solutions to address sub-surface challenges and help in the recognition of new opportunities in the highly productive Perth Basin.  The workshop serves as a forum to match technology solutions against industry need\, providing an introduction that allows for future detailed project proposals to be developed for funding consideration independently of the workshop. \nThe workshop is ideally aimed at Perth Basin E&P company professionals and those with interests in the Perth Basin. \nCost: Free with registration. \n

SUMMARY:PESA WA September Evening talk: Casting a Bigger Shadow: Big New Opportunities in Australian Basins revealed by Regional Fluid Inclusion Data
DESCRIPTION:Casting a Bigger Shadow: Big new opportunities in Australian Basins revealed by regional fluid inclusion data\n \nEnhanced hydrocarbon exploration\, Reduced development risk\, Improved geological storage of CO2 \n\nMark Lisk (Ascendience Geoscience) \n\n\nAustralia boasts the largest resource of fluid inclusion data in the world\, with more than 800 wells\,\nleading the way in application by the oil and gas industry. For exploration\, where constraining the\ntiming\, origin and phases of fluid migration is crucial\, the contribution to improved understanding of\nprocesses that produce\, alter\, or destroy hydrocarbon systems has been profound. These data\nrevolutionise the mitigation of risk in modern petroleum systems analysis\, improve understanding of\nproven systems for better appraisal and development planning and reveal pathfinders to new\npetroleum systems that will yield future discoveries. \nIn field development these data are especially valuable\, predicting down-dip oil rims in gas fields\,\noffering constraint on reservoir quality\, and by constraining water saturation in fields where formation\nwater samples are contaminated these unique data augment conventional measurements and yield\nsuperior control on the accuracy of field reserve calculations. \nAs geological storage of CO2 emerges as a vital climate mitigation strategy fluid inclusion data provides\ncrucial insights for effective screening of storage sites. From demonstrating the absence of viable\npetroleum systems to avoid contamination of yet to find petroleum resources to constraining the\nthermal conditions in wells with poor or no data and providing crucial constraint on the nature of\naquifer systems especially for migration assisted storage sites where salinity looms as a critical\, but\npoorly constrained\, factor. \nThis whistle stop tour examines a diverse range of Australian Basins and beyond to demonstrate the\nutility of these methods\, highlight areas where application directly contributed to discoveries or an\nimproved understanding of existing oil and gas fields and reveal those areas with good potential for\nfuture discoveries. Early application to identifying suitable sites for the geological storage of CO2 will\nalso be discussed where fluid inclusions can literally help to save the world! \n\nEvent Sponsors: \n \nThursday 21st September 6pm (for talk starting at 6.45pm)\, The Shoe Bar (Yagan Square) \nCost: \nPESA Members:                                $25.00 (Members must Log on to the PESA website to see the member prices) \nNon-members:                                 $50.00 \nPESA Students Members:               Free (registration is essential) \nBookings close Wednesday 20th September at 12 noon for venue and catering purposes.
