DESCRIPTION:PESA VIC/TAS are holding a joint Christmas Lunch together with our friends from ASEG and SPE. \n  \nBefore our lunch there will be a technical talk by Andrew Long (PGS)\, titled: \nThe Karma Sutra of Seismic \nAndrew Long returns  for a joint PESA-ASEG-SPE Christmas event that must not be missed: \nDrawing heavily upon subsurface images\, videos\, and a variety of questionable props\, he will describe\, in an accessible and entertaining manner\, how an emerging collection of ultra-high-resolution (UHR) and low impact seismic technologies\, augmented by AI and automation\, promise to impact exploration and development programs across the energy sector. DESCRIPTION:Australia’s Shale Gas Boom Starts Here\nEmpire Energy Group Limited (“Empire”) looks to emulate the unconventional shale gas boom in Australia that transformed the US energy landscape. Empire holds acreage in the Beetaloo Sub-basin\, within the Greater McArthur Basin in the Northern Territory. That acreage holds stacked Velkerri Formation shales that Empire is currently appraising and has delineated 1.6 TCF (2C) Contingent Resources and 30 TCF (2U) of Prospective Resources. The journey of exploration to appraisal will be discussed in the talk.

This December\, PESA SA/NT is paying David $1\,000\,000 to return with another blockbuster. Before dessert\, David will lead a joint discussion on The Books That Hooked Me – an investigation of the childhood books and collectables that turned his head toward geology. Luncheoneers will be invited to share their experience. How can we turn those young brains we babysit into earth scientists and engineers with great Christmas gifts? Specifically\, the challenge of making engineering remotely interesting to a kid compared to all the neat things geological.\nAfter dessert\, there will be a thrilling slideshow on The Role of Toilet Paper. The Chinese invented toilet paper in the 6th Century after discovering gunpowder was much too powerful and what to do with all those books after inventing printing eight centuries earlier? David will show a great variety of toilet paper dispensers with video of how well they don’t work.
