DESCRIPTION:PESA WA is excited to invite you to our second Core Values Session for 2026 on Friday 26 June at the Perth Core Library:\nHarvey Field Cores\nPresented by Cedric Griffiths (StrataMod Pty Ltd)\n\nThe cores will be used to re-examine the assumptions behind the CSIRO 2011/12 Sedsim forward stratigraphic model of Permian/Early Triassic sediment depositional environment which was run prior to obtaining the Harvey-1 well results. \nPrior to the drilling of Harvey-1 Schlumberger had developed a depositional concept model that assumed most of the sediment being transported westwards from the Darling Scarp in the form of alluvial fans. \nThe Sedsim model had most of the sediment being provided by a large river system from the south\, sourced from Antarctic mountain sources prior to break-up\, with minor input from the eastern fault block after “Tectonic and Stratigraphic History of the Perth Basin\, Norvick\, M.S. GA 2004”. \nChanges in palynology\, sedimentation style\, ichnofabric data\, and trace-fossils in wells from south to north and east to west will be discussed and at the session the interactive Sedsim forward model results that exhibit the proposed deposition system will be run. \n\n\nTicket Prices: \nMembers: $10.00 \nNon-Members: $20.00 \nPlease note that this event will be held on Friday 26 June 2026 at The Perth Core Library (37 Harris Street\, Carlisle). DESCRIPTION:PESA WA invites you to a two-day practical workshop focused on interpreting depositional environments and predicting 3D architectures in shallow marine and fluvial intervals on Thursday 16 and Friday 17 July at the Perth Core Library\, Carlisle.\n“Interpreting Three-Dimensional Fluvial and Shoreline Architecture from Core\, Depositional Analogues\, and Forward Stratigraphic Models”\nPresented by: Dr Boyan Vakarelov (Sedbase) & Simon Lang\n\nThrough a combination of lectures and hands-on examination of selected Permian and Mesozoic cores\, this workshop will cover: \n\nUsing hierarchical frameworks to address geological questions at the appropriate architectural scale.\nIdentifying depositional environments in core\, with a primary focus on active depositional processes.\nExamining typical 3D architectures in shallow marine and fluvial environments under different process regimes and their impact on subsurface fluid flow.\nLeveraging depositional analogues\, 3D conceptual models\, and realistic forward stratigraphic models to improve subsurface architectural predictions.\n\nLearning Outcomes: \n\nGain practical experience using physical structures and ichnology to interpret local depositional environments within cores.\nImprove your understanding of the three-dimensional aspects of depositional systems through extensive analogue databases\, 3D conceptual models\, and forward stratigraphic models.\nGain insight into how these tools can improve inter-well predictions while accounting for appropriate levels of depositional uncertainty.\n\nWho Should Attend: \n\nExploration and development geologists\, petrophysicists\, reservoir engineers\, academics\, and geoscience students.\n\nAnalogue Database Access: \n\nAll participants will be granted complimentary access to the Sedbase web-based platform for the duration of the workshop.\n\n  \n\nTicket Prices: \nMembers: $800.00 \nNon-Members: $1000 \nStudents: $100.00 \nPlease note that this event will be held on Thursday and Friday 16 & 17 July 2026 at the Perth Core Library (37 Harris Street\, Carlisle).
